It appears to have installed OK as far as I can tell it shows up in the Add-Ons listing, and I restarted afterwards to complete the installation.

But if I have to keep processing mail using BOTH tools, then I'm going to have to switch. SpamSieve 2.6 should be on the lips of all Mac users serious about ridding their computers of junk mail. I just switched from Entourage to Thunderbird, and of course one of the first things I did was install the SpamSieve Thunderbird extension. I like SpamSieve enough (with 99.7% accuracy) that I'd prefer not to switch to Thunderbird exclusively.

I've got to the point where I read and process all my mail using AppleMail, then quit, launch thunderbird, and delete everything manually. For those of you with external hosts for your mail, go check your /var/mail/ file. Text (including Markup)-only in MailMate is too heavy a lift for me. I does now have all of the features I need, and if it performs adequately with the very large corpus of archived e-mails I like to keep indexed and handy, that will be my choice. If Rules or SpamSieve move them, they never get deleted properly. Apple Mail is extraordinarily improved since I chose Postbox/Thunderbird over it many years ago.

After 9 years, this software has gotten an update this year SpamSieve: Mac only. Interestingly, if I have message that lands in my inbox (no rules processing) and I manually delete them, they get removed properly from the /var/mail/sparker file. with Outlook 2010 and Thunderbird 3.1 MailWasher PRO: Windows only. Other great sites and apps similar to Postini are Spamihilator, SpamSieve, BullGuard Spamfilter and Spam Reader.
The best alternative is Mailwasher, which is free. How do I know? If I read/move/delete all mail in my inbox, and then manually delete all the mail in the junk mail folder, then use something like Thunderbird in IMAP mode, I found that my /var/mail/sparker was 95+Mb full of garbage from the previous year (or much more) There are nine alternatives to Postini, not only websites but also apps for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Microsoft Office Outlook, SaaS and Thunderbird.
